Roasted sunflower seeds
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup salt ( optional )
- 8 cup water ( optional )
- 2 cup raw sunflower seeds, in the shell
Instructions
Salted
- Soak the ingredients together overnight.
- Drain, pat dry.
- Proceed to roasting.
Roasting
- Preheat oven to 300F
- Spread seeds on a cookie sheet or baking pan.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes, until golden brown, stirring every 10 minutes.
- Let cool and enjoy.
Notes
Optional - melt 1/4 cup butter and spread it on the seeds if you're going to eat them all the same day.
Optional - you can spritz some water and toss the raw seeds in whatever seasoning you want before baking (taco, curry, any popcorn flavouring.
If you're in a massive rush, you can bring the ingredients to a boil, reduce to simmer for 20 minutes, then drain completely (let sit in a strainer for 15-20 minutes).
Bake in a single layer at 400F for 10-15 minutes, or until dry to the touch. Let cool completely on the rack.
