Classic pork chop

Course Main Course
Servings 4 chops

Ingredients

Spice mix

  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp oregano

Everything else

  • 4 large pork chops, at least 1" thick, approx 4x4"
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400F
  • Whisk the spice mix together.
  • Coat the chops with half the olive oil.
  • Sprinkle the spice mix on both sides of the chops.
  • Place the chops in a baking dish, drizzle the remaining oil over the chops, and bake uncovered until internal temperature of at least 145F (see below).
  • Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Pork chops without the bone is approximately 7 minutes per 1/2", 8 minutes if bone-in, at 400F. Always measure internal temperature in the middle of the thickest part, and a minimum of 145F needs to be reached (a lot of sources still go with 155-165). Thin chops are harder to keep moist, so avoid the 1/2" thick cuts.
