Pizza stones need to be pre-heated, starting in a cold oven. Some come with handles, so you can use it as a dangerous serving tray.
To clean a pizza stone, use a stiff brush to clean off any bits that are stuck to it, and wipe clean with a damp cloth. Do not wash.
